I found some of these student interviews to be disappointing...but then again, what else was I expecting in today's world? Anyone else have the same reaction?
I felt so disturbed watching our future and how they spoke about interracial marriage. These are supposed to be our educated youth? Wow, just goes to show how far we still have to come on the subject.
I found your comment today and tried again. It worked! Actually I think the students were much more open-minded than you would have found 20-30 years ago in the United States. Having had experience with these issues, I was actually pleasantly surprised!
Could you be more specific about what you were disturbed about? I would like very much to discuss this further.
Hello Margot, I’m glad you found it. I haven’t watched it since I posted it, and will do so later on this weekend to fully respond to your question. (leaving for work right now!) – But what I recall was the students reporting how disturbed their parents would feel if they married someone of another race. Talk to you over the weekend,

Hi Margot. I just watched it again and felt the same way. The students sounded like they were struggling with societal racism, family racism, and their internalization of it. I was around back then when you were, and yest we’ve come a long way…but not long enough, I don’t think.
We are all humans.. OH MY GOODNESS! It’s not like we’re dating aliens.. geeze.. I am a white f that is with a black M… that black girl disturbs me! It’s going to happen.. get over it. Those are the ones that I have had to deal with and dealin with.. what does it matter if they are educated black men finding an educated white woman attractive.. I have a lot to say about this subject.. it’s just sad how this subject is not farther than it is!

You should be able to date who you want, end of story. Your heart is what matters not what people think.
